Tired of getting the “fine” answer when you ask how school went? Try asking them to sing a song about it. Encourage them to make up the song from scratch. If that doesn’t work, have them change the words to their favorite song melody or beat out a rhythm for them.
It may feel like pulling out teeth in the beginning, but you can always set an example by singing about how your own day went.
